Just realized that the Toyota 88C-V’s Minolta livery is actually advertising the Minolta MAXXUM 7000 (the decal above the 36 number plate ) , a camera I own and plan on using this weekend while on vacation!
T his baby was the first SLR on the market to feature both in-body autofocus and motorized film advance. It even has LCD screens for exposure info! THE YEAR IS 1985, AND THE FUTURE IS NOW.
I can’t help but think of the 88C-V every time I use this camera. My grandfather bought it when he was stationed in Japan in the 80s, so it’s even got JDM cred. :P

Something about that camera design reminds me my childhood. I was born in 82. The font, or decals?

Perhaps the overall blacked-out, blocky, angular design? Kinda reminds me of the big Sony/Onkyo/Kenwood(?) hifi receivers from that period.
EDIT: also gold-on-black. Very JPS-livery-esque.
